古賀亜希子の「ジュスティーヌ」は、文学に影響を受けて生まれた写真作品です。南仏のラコスト村の丘の頂には、かつてマルキ・ド・サド(1740-1814)が所有した城が存在します。ここは、サドの小説の舞台となったひみつの場所です。そして、小説家・遠藤周作(1923-1996)と小説家でありサド文学の翻訳者でもあった澁澤龍彦(1928-1987)が訪れた地でもあります。城跡で、2人の作家はひみつの歴史に思いを馳せ、それぞれの物語を展開しました。写真家・古賀亜希子は、2005年にこの地を訪れ撮影し、土地の記憶の継承を
試みます。本作品は、芸術が時代を超えて響き合い、夢想し、継承されていくことを実証し
ています。
この度、因州和紙との出合いから、「ジュスティーヌ」シリーズが新たにポートフォリオ
の形に生まれ変わりました。展覧会場では、写真作品20点を展示し、ポートフォリオを販
売いたします。

※タイトルの「ジュスティーヌ」は、マルキ・ド・サドの小説に登場する主人公の名前で
す。ジュスティーヌは、落雷によって非業の死を遂げました。

Akiko Koga’s “Justine” is a photographic work born from the influence of literature. At the top of a hill in the village of Lacoste in southern France once stood a castle owned by the Marquis de Sade (1740–1814). This secret place served as the setting for Sade’s novels. It is also the land visited by novelist Shusaku Endo (1923–1996) and writer and translator of Sade’s works, Tatsuhiko Shibusawa (1928–1987). Amid the ruins of the castle, the two authors reflected on its hidden history and unfolded their own narratives.
Photographer Akiko Koga visited this site in 2005 to capture its essence and attempt to inherit its memories through her lens. This work is a testament to how art transcends time—resonating, dreaming, and being passed down through generations.
Now, through a fortuitous encounter with Inshu washi paper, the “Justine” series has been newly reborn in the form of a portfolio. At the exhibition venue, 20 photographic works will be displayed, and the portfolio will be available for purchase.

Note: The title “Justine” refers to the protagonist of a novel by the Marquis de Sade. Justine met a tragic end, struck by lightning.
